Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
The short version: Sayrova turns your speech into text. To do that, your audio goes to a speech-recognition service and your text to an AI model, and we don't keep either. Your dictation history stays on your own device. We don't sell your data, show ads, take screenshots or track you around the web.
Who we are
Sayrova is operated by Christopher Lind, an individual based in Alabama, United States (“Sayrova,” “we,” “us”). This policy covers the Sayrova apps for Windows and Android, the Sayrova service that powers them, and this website. Questions or requests: hello@sayrova.com.
What happens when you dictate
When you hold the shortcut or tap the mic:
- Your audio is streamed securely from your device directly to our speech-recognition provider, Soniox, which turns it into text. It does not pass through our servers, and we don't store it.
- The transcript, together with a little context, is sent to our server and passed to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude model), which cleans it up: removing filler words, applying your corrections and adding punctuation. The context is the name of the app you're typing in, the writing style you chose for it, the words in your personal dictionary, and up to about 300 characters of text just before your cursor. This lets a dictation continue your sentence naturally. Text before the cursor is never read from password fields.
- When you edit with your voice, the text you selected and your spoken instruction are sent the same way, so the AI can rewrite it.
- Our server does not store or log your transcripts, the text around your cursor, your selections or the results. It records only how much you used, such as the seconds of audio and the amount of text processed, to run your free trial and plan limits.
Sayrova does not take screenshots and does not read your screen beyond the text described above. Many dictations need no AI cleanup at all, because the transcript is already clean. In that case nothing is sent to Anthropic.
Information we collect and keep
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account email and Google account ID, when you sign in | To create and identify your Sayrova account | Until you delete your account |
| Usage records (time, seconds of audio, amount of text processed, estimated cost) | To run your free trial, plan limits and fair-use limits, and to prevent abuse | While your account exists |
| Sign-in sessions (stored only as a one-way fingerprint, never the token itself) | To keep you signed in securely | 90 days, or until you sign out |
| Your personal dictionary and snippets, if you turn on sync (coming later) | To use them on all your devices | Until you delete them or your account |
| Your email address, and which platform you'd use (if you choose one), if you join the waitlist | To tell you when Sayrova launches, and to decide what to release first | Until launch, or until you ask us to remove it |
| A one-way fingerprint of your IP address when you join the waitlist (not the address itself) | To stop automated spam sign-ups | One hour |
We don't collect your name, phone number, contacts, location or files.
What stays on your device
These are kept by the Sayrova app on your own computer or phone, not on our servers. You can clear them in the app at any time:
- Your dictation history (your recent dictations, with both the original and cleaned-up versions)
- On Windows, recent recordings saved alongside your history
- On Android, a recording kept only if your connection drops, until it has been transcribed
- Your settings, writing styles, dictionary and snippets
- A local usage log, and any API keys you enter yourself (stored encrypted)
Using your own API keys
Advanced users can use their own Soniox and Anthropic accounts instead of a Sayrova account. In that mode your audio and text go directly from your device to those providers under your own agreements with them, and our server isn't involved.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted companies to run Sayrova. They may process your information only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Soniox | Speech recognition (turning your audio into text) |
| Anthropic | AI cleanup and voice editing (the Claude model). Anthropic's commercial terms do not allow it to train its models on this data. |
| Cloudflare | Hosting for our server, database and this website |
| Sign in with Google |
These providers may keep data for a limited time under their own policies, for example to detect abuse. If we add a payment processor for subscriptions, we'll update this policy before it's used.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information, or share it for advertising.
- We don't use your dictations to train AI models, and our providers' terms don't permit them to either.
- This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party trackers.
Google user data
Sayrova's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only your basic profile and email address, and use them only to sign you in.
Security
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Sign-in sessions are stored only as one-way fingerprints, API keys on your device are encrypted, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your information, or to delete your account entirely, by emailing hello@sayrova.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them. We won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
Sayrova is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll update the date above and let account holders know by email or in the app before the changes take effect.
